Position: Quality Control Technician
Purpose
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for conducting detailed inspections of raw materials and finished products, including sheet and foil, to verify compliance with established specifications and quality standards. This role requires consistent adherence to defined performance metrics and the ability to effectively execute assigned responsibilities within established operational expectations.
Job Responsibilities
• Conduct testing on incoming raw materials, in-process materials, rolling oils and additives, plant process water, and finished products.
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
• Verify that product and material dimensions meet specified requirements.
• Evaluate inspection results and recommend appropriate product disposition for quality assurance purposes.
• Observe and assess fabrication processes to ensure compliance with established procedures and quality standards.
• Operate required testing and diagnostic equipment as needed to perform job functions.
• Record and report data from all quality assurance activities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Continuously develop knowledge of customer specifications, production processes, and quality standards.
• Perform routine equipment and process maintenance tasks.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.
• Carry out Quality Control Inspector responsibilities in alignment with Technical Department standards; supervisors may prioritize tasks based on operational needs.
• Complete assigned daily tasks within established timeframes.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with defined procedures and standards.
• Adhere to all safety policies and practices.
• Follow company guidelines related to attendance, breaks, on-call responsibilities, and general policies.
• Report equipment, safety, or personnel concerns to the supervisor promptly.
• Identify causes of equipment malfunctions or breakdowns and notify the supervisor to coordinate necessary repairs.
• Identify and address safety hazards or unsafe behaviors, reporting concerns to both the individual involved and the supervisor for follow-up.
• Report any misuse, damage, or theft of company property to the supervisor.
• Promote and support effective communication between supervisors and team members.
• Obtain and maintain necessary supplies to perform assigned duties.
Qualifications
• High School diploma or general degree (GED); or three to six months related and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and aluminum production experience.
• Basic computer skills and use of measuring equipment such as micrometer and tape.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter, detail oriented and able to work well without continual supervision.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Personal protective equipment includes but is not limited to safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, and hearing protection as required.
